Evansville Arrest Records
Evansville arrest records can be searched through multiple local and state resources. The Evansville Police Department and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office both handle arrest data in this southwestern Indiana city of about 118,000 people. Whether you want to check recent bookings, look at the daily crime report, or search court cases tied to an arrest, several tools are available online and in person. Public records in Evansville follow Indiana Code 5-14-3, the state's Access to Public Records Act, which gives clear rules on how to request and receive records.
Evansville Quick Facts
Evansville Police Arrest Reports
The Evansville Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency in the city. Chief Philip Smith leads a force of 289 sworn officers and 31 civilian employees. On behalf of the department, Chief Smith has stated the EPD welcomes you to their official website and is committed to public safety across Evansville.
The EPD homepage gives an overview of the department and links to arrest data tools.
From here you can find links to the crime map, daily reports, and contact info for the records division.
One of the most useful tools for Evansville arrest records is the EPD Daily Crime Report. This report runs Monday through Friday and shows the public narrative from arrests and reports for the previous 24 hours. It lists the type of incident, the location, and a brief summary. This is a fast way to check for recent arrest activity in the city without filing a formal request.
The daily crime report page is shown here.
Reports are posted on weekdays and cover the prior day's incidents and arrests in the Evansville area.
Evansville Crime Map Database
The EPD Crime Analysis Map provides another way to search arrest records and crime data in Evansville. The Crime Analysis Unit compiles crime maps, graphs, and database reports from public records. You must accept a legal disclaimer before using the tool. A tutorial is provided to help you navigate the map.
The crime map tool from the EPD website is shown below.
The map draws on available data, so crimes not yet entered into the system will not appear.
The information on the site is compiled from public records. In the preparation of the site, the department has made extensive efforts to offer the most current, correct, and clearly expressed information possible. Keep in mind that the data is provided as-is with no warranties. This is common for public crime mapping tools across Indiana.
Note: Reproduction of photos or content from the EPD site is prohibited without explicit written consent from the department.
Vanderburgh County Booking Records
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office handles jail operations and booking records for Evansville and the surrounding area. Sheriff Noah Robinson, a 23-year law enforcement veteran elected in November 2022, leads the department. The sheriff's office posts recent bookings on its website, which include photos, names, ages, and booking dates.
Recent bookings from the Vanderburgh County jail are shown below.
Booking records update as new arrests come in, though there may be a slight delay.
The sheriff's office also includes a presumption of innocence notice: "The fact that a person has been arrested or charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law." This applies to all booking records displayed on the site. The INjail portal can also be used to search inmates at the Vanderburgh County jail.

Under Indiana Code 35-38-9, some arrest and conviction records in Evansville can be sealed through expungement. If you were arrested but never charged, you may file a petition after one year. Misdemeanor convictions may qualify after five years, and some felonies after eight years. The petition goes to the Vanderburgh County court that handled the case. Not every case qualifies, so talk to an attorney in the Evansville area for guidance.
Note: Expunged records no longer show up in public search tools, but law enforcement can still access them.
