Washington County Expungement
Under Indiana Code 35-38-9, certain arrest and conviction records in Washington County can be sealed. File a petition in the court that handled the original case. Arrests that did not lead to charges can be sealed immediately. Dismissed cases are eligible after one year. Misdemeanor convictions need five years. Level 6 felonies require eight years.
The judge reviews the petition based on the offense, time passed, and your record since then. If the petition is granted, the records are sealed from public view. They will not appear in MyCase or ISP searches. Law enforcement keeps access, but the public and employers cannot see them.
