Warren County Sheriff Booking Records

The Warren County Sheriff's Office is the only law enforcement agency with county-wide jurisdiction. The sheriff runs a small jail in Williamsport and processes all bookings for the area. Deputies patrol the rural roads and farmland that make up most of Warren County. When someone is arrested, they are brought to the county jail for booking.

Each booking record contains the person's name, charges, arrest date, and bond details. Under Indiana's Access to Public Records Act (IC 5-14-3), booking records are public. You can request them by contacting the sheriff's office in Williamsport. Because this is such a small county, in-person or phone requests tend to work best. The office may not have a dedicated records clerk, so be patient if staff are busy with other duties.

Warren County does not have any cities large enough to maintain their own police departments in the traditional sense. The sheriff's office handles nearly all law enforcement activity in the county. Indiana State Police troopers also patrol the area and bring arrests to the county jail when needed.

Note: Warren County's jail has very limited capacity. In some cases, inmates may be housed at a neighboring county's jail, like Tippecanoe or Fountain. The booking record stays with Warren County regardless of where the person is physically held.

Warren County Inmate Search

To check on current inmates in Warren County, use the INjail portal. This state-run tool lets you search by name or browse inmates by county. Select Warren County and you can see who is being held, what they are charged with, and when they were booked.

The INjail portal is the primary online resource for county jail inmate searches statewide.

Choose Warren County to check current inmates and booking information.

Because Warren County is so small, the jail population on any given day may be very low. You might find just a handful of inmates or even none listed. If you cannot find someone on INjail, they may have been released, transferred, or could be housed in another county's facility. Call the Warren County Sheriff's Office for the most current info.

For people who were convicted and sent to state prison, the Indiana DOC offender locator is the right tool. It covers the state prison system, not county jails.

Warren County Court Records

Criminal cases from Warren County arrests go through the Warren Circuit Court in Williamsport. Warren County does not have a separate superior court, so all cases are handled by the circuit court. The clerk processes filings, keeps records, and schedules hearings. You can search Warren County court records for free on MyCase.

MyCase is the state court records portal. Enter a name or case number to find charges, hearing dates, and case outcomes. No account is needed. The system covers both active and old closed cases. New filings appear within a day or two of when the clerk enters them into the system.

Court records provide more detail than a booking log. They follow the entire path of a case, from the initial charge through final disposition. If the prosecutor filed charges after an arrest, the case will show up in MyCase. If no charges were filed, there may be a booking record but no court file.

Arrests without charges filed are eligible right away. Dismissed cases can be sealed after one year. Misdemeanor convictions need a five-year wait. Level 6 felonies require eight years.

The judge reviews the petition and weighs the offense, elapsed time, and your record since the case. If granted, the sealed records no longer appear in public searches. MyCase and ISP results will not show them. Law enforcement keeps access, but the public cannot view sealed records.
