Lake County Sheriff Arrest Records
The Lake County Sheriff's Department serves the broader Hammond area. Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. leads the department. The Bureau of Identification Office maintains all criminal records, gun permits, accident reports, offense reports, tow releases, and registers sex and violent offenders for Lake County.

- Accident Reports: $15 cash or money order (allow 72 hours for completion)
- Offense Reports: $4 cash or money order
- Record Checks: $7 cash or money order
A valid driver's license or state ID is required. Personal checks are not accepted. Money orders or company checks only. For background checks, you need a copy of your ID, social security card, a notarized release form, and the $7 fee.

Hammond Court Records Search
Criminal cases from Hammond arrests are filed in Lake County Superior Court in Crown Point, the county seat. Search court records for free on MyCase. The ISP criminal history service provides statewide arrest checks for $15 per name. Under Indiana Code 35-38-9, some Hammond arrest records can be sealed through expungement.
